Home visit policy

Home visits are strictly limited to patients who are genuinely bedbound or housebound due to medical necessity.

Patients who are able to leave their home to attend:

  • Optician appointments
  • Dental appointments
  • Hospital clinics
  • Shopping or social activities

do not meet the criteria for a home visit and are expected to attend the surgery.

Home visits are provided only where a patient is medically unable to leave home under any circumstances.

Attending the practice ensures appropriate examination facilities and safer clinical care.

Requests for home visits will be clinically assessed and may be declined if the criteria are not met.

Patients that move outside of our catchment area but decide to stay registered with the surgery, will be made aware that they will no longer be entitled to home visits and should take this into consideration when deciding to stay.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us prioritise care for the most vulnerable patients.
